NOVALIS: ASIC'S ANTI GORPCORE BRAND
The Japanese sports behemoth ASICS has launched Novalis alongside collaborator Kiko Kostandinov, who’s productions with the brand are legendary. The first Novalis collection will launch at Paris Fashion Week in October and will be available via DSM & The Broken Arm later this year. The line has been described as Anti-Gorpcore and will feature washed out colours, moderate cuts and no logos.
Kiko comments:“It’s very important to me that we’re not just adding something to the current trend of very male-focussed technical wear, you know, guys going around saying: ‘Hey, I have more Arc’teryx stuff than you,’”
ASICS COLLABORATIONS WITH KIKO KOSTADINOV
The two first collaborated after Kiko graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2017 where Kostandinov was allowed to create any silhouettes using contemporary ASICS shoes. The only limitation was against a new sole-unit which can take ASICS up to 3-years to develop. Although, a new sole unit was ultimately created along with countless successful collaborations which are still in demand today. The original Gel-Burz 1 of 2017 remains a favourite at Truss.
