FASUNAA SPOTLIGHT
The Fasunaa page was created in 2020 and has since become a staple destination for utilitarian fashion enthusiasts. Whilst we wouldn’t want to box them into any category, they are best described as a “mood board” or “curation” page. Quoting Fasunaa “We like to describe ourselves as a global aesthetic, supported by community that feels close to nature, wellness and fashion.” In recent times they have worked with household names like Arc’Teryx, adidas and Moncler.
For the Fasunaa spotlight, we asked Thomas, its founder, to pick out several garments of special significance to the page itself, to go with it we also posed several questions about the page itself.

YOU HAVE A VERY STRONG COLOR ORIENTED AESTHETIC ON THE FASUNAA PAGE FOCUSING ON EARTH TONES, HOW DOES THIS REFLECT YOUR DAY TO DAY STYLE?
To be honest, my daily style is quite sober. Very often my outfit is made up of dark items and I play with the colors in my sneakers. My page is a way for me to express myself. No need for the clothes to be in my size or adapted to my build. I can select whatever I want, even clothes I could never afford to wear. It’s like for a painter in front of his canvas, I can be or show what I want.

WHAT DO YOU THINK DRAWS SO MANY PEOPLE THE PAGE?

I think what attracts people the most is the overall aesthetic of the page. There is consistency in the curation but also variety. The community can be aware of new collaborations but also discover lesser known creators. We also try to offer content that is much more focused on nature or architecture.
WHAT WAS THE RATIONALE BEHIND YOUR CURATION?
As I explained in the first question, I don’t have a lot of items compared to the selection on the Fasunaa page. Sometimes items are too expensive or don’t match my style. The curation is however only composed of products that the team appreciate whether it is for aesthetics, for functionality or for its history.

HOW HAS BEING PART OF THE INSTAGRAM CURATOR/ARCHIVER COMMUNITY CHANGED YOUR OWN THINKING OF FASHION?
My knowledge in the fashion world has grown. I discovered a lot of new brands, new independent designers. This is one of the main reasons that pushed me to start and that motivated me to continue. I am also much more focused on the ethical aspect of brands and the textile industry. Consuming responsibly is very important. This is something that I want to highlight for the year 2022 with my team.

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO SHARE THIS CURATION WITH TRUSS?
We think it’s a very interesting project. Many people are interested in the products and want to know more details. Knowing the history of brands is also important. This is something that we unfortunately cannot highlight on our page which is more focused on curation. We believe that Truss Archive and Fasunaa can be complementary in the future. That’s why we decided to share our selection with Truss.
